The Mineral Wells area has an interesting and diverse history that transpired, especially after being “founded by” J. A. Lynch, who settled here in 1877 and discovered the curative mineral water. He drilled the first well in 1880 and laid out the town in 1881, becoming its first mayor and capitalizing on the “health cure” craze. Many artifacts curated in the Mineral Wells Heritage Association Rock School Museum relate to many of these articles below.
